You are invited to attend the Health SIG PD Event on Collaborative Partnerships. At this event, attendees will hear how Human Factors Practitioners have partnered with healthcare providers to explore human factors within health.
The first topic is presented by Jelena Zestic, Human Factors PhD Candidate from The University of Queensland. In this presentation, Jelena will discuss her experience with using Cognitive Task Analysis (CTA) methods to identify and explore the cognitive skills, strategies and knowledge used by patient flow operators in their day to day work. The outcomes of these methods may act as a foundation for system re-design or interventions in the future.
Our second speaker is Robyn Clay-Williams, a Senior Research Fellow and Lead for Human Factors & Resilience Research at the Australian Institute of Health Innovation. In this presentation, Robyn will discuss the Functional Resonance Analysis Method (FRAM) which is a process mapping method for modelling complex socio-technical systems. It is well-suited for capturing the essential characteristics of everyday work in hospitals and healthcare organisations. FRAM provides a way of modelling the activities that make up a task, as well as their mutual dependencies, and is able to show variation in task performance. Practical examples of how FRAM might be used will be presented.
