You are invited to attend the Design SIG PD Event which will focus on a Human Factors Method – Cognitive Work Analysis.
Cognitive work analysis has been applied in the design of numerous sociotechnical systems. The process used to translate analysis outputs into design concepts is not always clear. The Cognitive Work Analysis Design Toolkit (CWA-DT) was developed to address this gap. It draws on design thinking and participatory design approaches to provide a structured approach to translating the outputs of the analysis into design concepts. This presentation will introduce the CWA-DT and demonstrate its use in a public transport ticketing design case study.
Dr Gemma Read is a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Human Factors and Sociotechnical Systems at the University of the Sunshine Coast. She has over 10 years’ experience in applied Human Factors research, mostly in transport safety. Prior to transitioning to academia, she worked as a Human Factors Specialist in transport safety regulation. Her main areas of expertise and interest include the application of methods and approaches with a basis in complexity and systems theory to enhance safety in transportation systems. She is also interested in how better translation of human factors research outcomes into real-world practice can be achieved.
