The success of quality and safety initiatives in healthcare is often dependent on the application of Human Factors and Ergonomics (HFE). Unfortunately, knowledge and understanding of HFE among healthcare workers is limited. The aim of this resource is to increase human factors awareness and capability among health professionals and health services staff.
Driven by HFE experts from the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society of Australia, Macquarie University and the Clinical Excellence Commission, with contributions from over 30 HFE practitioners and researchers from all over Australia, this resource provides readers with an overview of the essential concepts in HFE and their application to key areas in healthcare.
