Design SIG

Design SIG brings members together that have an interest in effective ergonomic design and how it affects everyday lives.

What does design mean for ergonomics?
A broad definition of design is "the active use of a structured and/or creative process with the intent of making sense of the available alternatives to solve a problem or gain a new perspective".

Design is the process by which all the artefacts of the workplace, home and community are created. Ergonomics - creating the match between person and environment, equipment and systems - must, therefore, work with the design process to be effective. The outcomes of failed designs are all around us. Once spent, money may to be spent again and lower order, "bandaid" solutions are the only ones possible.
